International Statistical Engineering Association
We are organizing a Panel discussion session on Statistical Engineering at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Toronto in August.
Quality Engineering recently published two discussion papers co-edited by Christine Anderson-Cook and Lu Lu which brought together a group of leading applied statisticians from academia, industry, and government to discuss the important movement of Statistical Engineering (SE). The discussion series considered the progress made, the current status of SE, and what the future holds for SE. The International Statistical Engineering Association (ISEA) wants to bring this timely discussion to life. The panel consists of a subset of the discussants that contributed to the papers, and the moderator is the Quality Engineering editor-in-chief. Through a series of planned questions from the moderator, and spontaneous questions from the audience, the panel will discuss the unique value added by SE, notable advances, current obstacles, challenges, and opportunities as the discipline continues to grow. The goal of the panel is to inspire statisticians to consider their own possible role in advancing the adoption of Statistical Engineering to solve important problems with high quality solutions.
